My Background and Training
I decided to train as a counsellor in 2007 after a chance meeting with a suicidal man who wanted to talk. I was deeply moved by the encounter and starting exploring training options. At the time I was working as a social enterprise business adviser, coach and facilitator, supporting both individuals and groups in growth focussed projects so it felt like a natural step. In my earlier career I worked in poverty alleviation, community development and human rights work in the UK, Africa and Central America. Throughout my career I have been passionate about psychology, group dynamics, social justice, community action. These passions are still central to my work.
My training has involved the following;
- Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy from the Welsh Psychotherapy Partnership, accreditation with UKCP 2016
- Post Graduate Certificate in couples counselling with Relational Psychotherapy 2020
- Post Graduate Certificate in counselling from the University of West of England in 2009
- Certificate in Group Analysis with the Institute of Group Analysis 2010
- Training in Whole Intelligence with Malcolm Parlett and Gestalt Centre Wales 2025
- Embodied and Systemic Coaching with Jenny Mackewan, 2026
- SFEDI Accredited Business Adviser, 2005
- Accreditation as a Motivational Interviewer 2013
- Trained Action Learning Set Facilitator 2006
- BSC in Development Studies and Anthropology 1996
I have delivered 1-1 therapy in private practice since 2013. In addition, I have worked as a trainer on group psycho-education courses using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a motivational interviewer on a trail run by Cardiff University and as a mental health mentor for students at Swansea University. I have completed placements in Swansea University Wellbeing Services and NHS Primary Care Psychological Therapies team in Swansea.
Fees
Individual sessions range from £60 to £75 for a 50 minute session, depending on income.
Couples sessions range £75 to £95 for 70 minutes.
Groups and Workshops bespoke. Please enquire.
